The journey of 10,000 miles began with a single chair.
By Eva DeVirgilis
In My Chair
Makeup artist Eva DeVirgilis noticed a disturbing pattern; within the first three seconds of sitting in her makeup chair almost every woman would apologize for their appearance. Then she realized she did it too.
In her powerful and critically acclaimed solo show, In My Chair, Eva DeVirgilis takes her makeup chair around the world to interview women in her chair. Through their stories, she's finally able to share her own.
Holding a mirror up to beauty standards, double standards, and the standard patriarchal poppycock facing women today; DeVirgilis offers her fresh and funny voice to the global conversation with and about women.
WITCHDUCK
I'm currently working on my next play based on the the remarkable life of Grace Sherwood—the last woman to be tried for witchcraft in North America in 1706 in Princess Anne County. (Now known as Virginia Beach, VA)
As a 2023-24 Pipeline Fellowship recipient I am developing the play under the mentorship of Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire.
Head writer and host of the Environmental Series on Ocean Acidification.
Using interviews with marine biologists, serious scientific evidence and some very silly scenarios, this series focuses on what we can do to stop the ocean's rising ph.
